- ANDERSEN’S AWARD 2010 and 2012 nominee
Tone Pavček, widely recognized, beloved and awarded Slovenian poet with an enormous body of poetic works for children and adults, created an unforgettable character with Juri Muri. His adventures (Juri Muri in Africa and Juri Muri in Africa Again, both reprinted often) were faithful companions of many generations of Slovenian children. This time Juri Muri is returning, accompanied, of course, by his faithful friend Bongo, to the sunny side of the Alps. In this newest, third part, they cross-cross Slovenia and experience a lot of interesting and exciting things on the road.
Pavček's new epic poem is not only a string of crafty, oftentimes funny verses and rhymes, or suspenseful adventures of brave heroes and their traveling friends, it is also a virtual little geography guide to the sights and hidden corners of our land, even those, not often found on the pages of tourist guidebooks. Therefore this large size book is not only an invitation to the world of reading, but also to the discovery of Slovenian land; its geography and history, for the whole family. Both these areas are skillfully incorporated into the story, so the book becomes an excellent starting point for broadening one's horizon.
Juri Muri and Bongo got a new suit of clothes in the hands of highly valued, always innovative and outstanding illustrator Damijan Stepančič.
