Boštjan Gorenc

Author
Translator

Boštjan Gorenc – Pižama lives in a small village in central Slovenia and—if official records are to be trusted—he was also born at one point in time. He is not yet dead, or if so, he is hiding it extremely well. Boštjan has been a great lover of language all his life and it remains a common denominator in everything he undertakes, from stand-up comedy to podcasts.

He first entered literary circles as a translator, but soon caught the writing bug, and has since produced several works of his own. He received the Best Book of the Year Award at the 2016 Slovenian Book Fair for his booklet sLOLvenski klasiki 1 (sLOLvenian Classics 1), a humorous take on Slovenian classical writers. His translation of the novel Good Omens (Gaiman and Pratchett) won him a place on the IBBY Honour List in 2012. Boštjan’s main genres of interest are comics and picture books.

His works have also been nominated for the Kristina Brenkova Award, the Večernica Award, and the Levstik Award. Most of his literary creations are proud recipients of the Golden Pear Label, while sLOLvenski klasiki 1 and Moj lajf (My Life) bore fruit in the form of the Apple of Inspiration Award, awarded by the President of the Republic of Slovenia.
