- Danse Macabre
The book is based on the medieval frescos in the church in Hrastovlje in the Littoral region of Slovenia, depicting the Danse Macabre (Dance of Death), a procession of individuals from all walks of life led by Death, symbolizing that death unites all, regardless of social status, but the illustrator interprets the images from the procession in his own way with the help of alchemist symbols, and the poet Peter Svetina transposes the motif of the Dance of Death into modern verse.
