There are sixteen chapters in the book, in which young people pose questions to the (fictional) psychotherapist Dr. Dünkelkopf, questions that just won’t let them be. He answers them and tries to offer some broader insight into the problem or dilemma, and the teenagers then report back to him the unfolding of events.
Doctor Dünkelkopf first appeared in public as an imaginary radio therapist, a late-night solver of mind puzzles on the airwaves, which is not surprising, since Mateja Perpar is a long-time radio host. The purpose of such radio broadcasts was to encourage listeners to talk, to speak out about certain issues. They shared their experiences and wisdom about the lives of their radio acquaintances. Unusual, sometimes quite bizarre cases have now also found their way onto the pages of a splendid book, which the author had written with the help of an actual expert, psychiatrist and psychotherapist. The answers that the imaginary doctor provided therefore have a professional, real-life basis and will certainly be even more interesting and applicable for young readers. Moreover, Mateja Perpar’s writing is fresh, lively, and highly entertaining.
