• IBBY Honour List 2004
• The Večernica Award 2001
First published more than ten years ago, the book received the Večernica prize, was included in the IBBY Honour List, and has become a classic of Slovene children’s literature. In this new edition, the stories have been revised and modernised by the author. Their liveliness, wit and ingenuity, however, have not been changed. The same goes for the specific speech and the child’s worldview of the main character Ran, betterknown as “Puddle”. The stories mainly take place in nursery school, where children get up to all kinds of mischief, look forward to excursions, meet new people and get acquainted with the “strange” customs and rules of the adult world. Ran’s group visits the seaside and the countryside. There is a concert in the nursery school, which is attended by the President’s wife herself. The group is visited by Santa Claus, it meets knights, doughnuts are baked in the nursery, and Ran gets a sister. There are many more adventures of Ran and his special group and it is never boring in the nursery school.
