Zoran Šteinbauer

Author

Zoran Šteinbauer (1965) enrolled in medical school due to his desire for a better, more benevolent world. He enriched his work experience in a retirement home, in the haemodialysis department, in psychogeriatrics and at the department for addiction. He was one of the founding members of Ozara, a non-profit organization for post-hospitalization care of patience who have experienced psychiatry treatment and mental distress. He completed a course in the basics of biotherapy with the bioenergetic specialist Domančić as his mentor. He participated in the translation of three books with spiritual content. Together with his friends, he owned an Indian souvenir and textile shop for several years. In his free time, Šteinbauer likes to read Zen cards to his friends and colleagues. He is a pacifist and a vegetarian. He is convinced that violence and prejudice cannot solve even the most insignificant of the world’s problems.

He entered the world of literature relatively late and published his debut novel Ukradeno sonce (Stolen Sun), which is about a blind girl and her search for completeness, at the age of 43. For this author, weaving the written word is an increasingly interesting journey along the still unchartered map of the soul and the liberation of his own voice. He feels that he might fall ill were it not for raising his innermost emotions, as he finds external dialogues much too impersonal, alienated, and clichéd.
