- I Wanted My Own Path
In his second book, we follow Mitja Saje’s life journey, from his first visit to China in his student days, through his return home and the establishment of the Department of Asian Studies, right up to the present day. A story about discovering new cultures, about living life to the fullest, about travel, language and politics, but also about family – about everything that matters when one follows one’s own path.
Mitja Saje, a polyglot and co-founder of the Department of Asian Studies at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, stubbornly followed his own path at a time when both Yugoslavia and China still seemed to be very closed countries. He was one of the first Yugoslavs to study in China and became a founding father of the new department at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. A story of how, with a great deal of curiosity, some stubbornness and resourcefulness, one can forge one’s own path.
