A ten-year old goes to the mountains with his granny, an experienced mountaineer. But conditions in the mountains are unpredictable, and they end up in a series of dangerous situations. Getting lost in hill fog and being caught by night, they are forced to craft a makeshift shelter and wait for a mountain rescue team to guide them to safety – an ideal opportunity for the boy to try to ask his granny why she doesn’t like his father, her elder son. Why doesn’t she ever visit him? Could it be that she minds him living with Philip?
Obviously, there are other mountains the boy’s granny will have to climb to come to terms with her son’s decision to be himself, “no matter what they say” (Sting).
